One week is a short time to visit both cities. Decide which one you prefer. Both are nice. Buenos Aires looks a bit like Europe, if you know what I mean. Rio is hotter, warmer, wilder and cheaper too.
Good luck! |

I LIVED in Rio for some years and I strongly recommend you NOT to go there. The city is very violent and people just CAN'T speak English, it's a huge problem to search for things in a store or to give instructions to a cab (the drivers use to drive in circles to get some extra cash, too). Some neighborhoods just STINK and there is NO good nightlife in there. I never visited Buenos Aires, but I can bet you'll have better times there, if considered the pros and contras.
However, Rio is, SURELY, the MOST beautiful place I've been in my whole life (and I've visited more than 30 countries). The beach is nearly unbelieaveable.
That's something to think about. |

I went to Rio a in 2005 and did it in a few days, unless you're into beeches there's not much there.
For me all that was worth seeing was the Sugar Loaf, the Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer statue) and the Botanical Gardens.
Do you speak portugese? If not you may find it hard to communicate with people.
I would say 2 weeks would be better. |

Buenos Aires is better!! the people called it the Paris of Southamerica because its very beautifull and look like an european city.
Also the people called it "the city that never sleep" because there are a lot of night life: pubs, disco, restaurant, etc. And the people are very beatifull and kind. The food its the best.
If you go with young people you will fun a lot
And its very cheap:
one peso = three dollars
one peso = 4,5 euros
good look
(sorry for my english) |
