Does anyone know the name of the small orange-color fruit sold everywhere in Guaemala ?
I believe that the locals call it 'cocote' or 'cocotie'.
They are called JOCOTES. Other common names include Red Mombin, Purple Mombin, Ciruela, or Hog Plum.
You can find them in most countries with tropical weather. Most countries will have their own name for them.
Click on the link below for some excellent pics and a great article about them.

-Nispero

There is also an orange-red fruit called a pataya. It is pictured at http://www.atitlan.net/riegel/lake-atitlan/still-life/6.htm , in the basket in the center.
