Being between the tropic of Cancer and the Equator causes Costa Rica to have nearly 12 hours of light and dark year round. 6 am and 6 pm are your departure points. If it's spring/summer in the US, the daylight lasts a bit longer, 15 to 20 minutes before 6 am and 15 to 20 mins after 6 pm, but not much more. If it's fall/winter, the it's the opposite, 15 to 20 minutes after 6 am and 15 to 20 minutes before 6 pm. It's amazing! You can actually get up early in the morning, drive to the Caribbean and watch the sunrise...then have breakfast, chill out at the beach for a while, get in your car, drive to the Pacific and watch the sunset as you have a great dinner...all in the same day! Can you beat that?

Costa Rica is so close to the equator that the days and nights are 12 hours long..every day. If you get to the beach at 5:45, you'll have seen the sunset by 6:15 and be getting ready for dark. Once the sun hits the horizon, you have 3 minutes before it's gone. You can actually SEE the sun sink. It's way cool. |

also depends where you're at, if its the caribbean or the pacific coast. as the other guy said, seeing the sun sink in the water is sick.
digging up some information for you about times, here you go:
Civil twilight begins at 5:04 AM, ends at 5:49 PM
Nautical twilight begins at 4:40 AM, ends at 6:13 PM
Astronomical twilight begins at 4:15 AM, ends at 6:37 PM
but on my own experience, it starts around 5:35 - 5:45 , it also depends on the season :0
