nope!!!

No..Thank goodness! Costa Rica is not a status oriented, brand name dependant or judgemental country. Nobody here cares what brand you wear, how much money you make, what neighborhood you live in, what kind of car you drive, or what you do for a living,

It what makes this place such a great place to live! People accept you for the person you are, not the money you have or the clothes you wear. The Costa Rican people and their society live simple, eat well, stay healthy and live with a fraction of the stress that the typical American lives with on a daily basis.

They are not stretched to the ends in credit card debt, mortgages, car payments, defunct equity loans, absurd health care costs and the never ending need to live beyond their means so they can fit in, and appear to have imaginary wealth so they are accepted by their peers who live the same way. What a mess in the U.S.

Nope, no Ambercrombie and Fitch or Hollister here. Just plain simple living and pure life! Pura Vida

nah...there's an aeropostale though...only one that I know of. The designer clothes are a lot more expensive down there though.

I have never seen either store in CR, which is understandable since they cater to the US, and are just too expensive for local buying. Plus with the economy the way it is, I doubt they would dump money into a foreign country where they are currently closing stores in the US

Just to let you know, CR is not a fashion statement country like in the US. The people are cool, laid-back and have their own style. Grant you many of the young people follow US trends (rockers, punkers, hip hop) but they are usually a few years behind in styles and not really out to make a statement within their peers

Yeah, we have if you visit the malls.

AttorneyKearney
I bet the malls have them, I think Multiplaza and Mall San Pedro may have them.
Costa Rica is very fashion oriented, name brands are usually more popular with certain crowds and not as much in the countryside where some of the expats live or vacation.
Young preppies are the ones who most often are up to date with the new brands from the USA or Europe.
Outside of the Central Valley is not as trendy.
