Drinking age in peru?

i'm 16 years old and i'm going to peru next summer. i know that the "legal" drinking age is 18. however many countries do not go by the rules. i was wondering if they go by the legal age much down there and how easy it would be for me to buy alcohol. does anyone know? thank you!

Looking local is the most important thing. You don't want to get picked on because you are trying to stand out. You can send teenagers to buy alcohol in Peru. The legal drinking age is 18 there. Again, if you drink, just don't act silly or you will be upheld to the law. I have friends there that drink at 17 and 18 and they have no problems because they drink at home or right outside their house.... usually after a soccer game.

It's normal and not looked at with malice like here in the U.S. Just have fun.

If you are under 18 and will buy alcohol, try to stay home, because if you are an American citizen or Peruvian resident in the USA and the police officers get you, they will be the worse nightmare you ever had.
You will have no problem while they don't know that you are a tourist.

In Testimony Whereof
no you can really drink whenever u want, as long as u got money. When my cousin and I were really young, my uncle asked us to go to the store and buy beer, and they didnt look twice at us.

usually in latin countries if you look old enough they wont ask u for i.d. BUT some places are strict about it. it just depends where u go. and be careful of wat u drink....the legal age is 18 if u get caught drinking as a minor ur screwed fyi and so is however served u the drink and whoever is with u at that time and ur parents

You won't have a problem getting drinks but be careful with the guys, you don't want to get drunk and then get abused by a guy because you were to drunk to control the situation. That can happen in America or in Peru or anywhere else.

I don't think you should drink but if you drink, drink with FRIENDS you trust and will take care of you.
