Yeah you re looking at around 1400 to 1600, but It could take you 2 days to get there depending on road conditions. I drove to Los Angeles from Dallas and its around same distance, took me 24 hours almost nonstop. so its a long drive.

Guessing at this but I'd say roughly 1400 miles ~24 hours of driving at 60mph.

On a plane... straight shot it is 1503 miles. That is a very long drive.

I´ve gone from Los Angeles to Costa Rica before on several occasions, the average time it took was about 9 days, sleeping a night in Mexico City, Guatemala city, San Salvador, Managua, Nicaragua and finally Costa Rica.
It is a fun drive and there is a lot to see and do along the way.
Make sure you take a tank of Gasoline when you cross the Mexican desert and a couple spare tires and extra hoses as well as a jack and some tools.
Have fun !
