lately, there have been more crime in Belize city, but there are less crime in the villages and other part of the country. Is he coming to the city?

I would not say that Belize is one of the safest place around here, but i've been living here for all my life, and it's not impossible to make good friends and live safely in belize

LivingDownSouth
Moved here from the States about 2.5 years ago. I live here with my wife and kids in Belmopan and have traveled to many parts of Belize. Belize is just like most other places - use common sense and, in general, you will be fine. However, it is a good point that Belize City is more crime prone then most areas.

In short, your family member will likely be fine as long as he/she takes sensible precautions.

Well being a native Belizian I can tell you about Belize city. Not safe. I've had my purse stolen many times. I usually stay in the country area when I visit
