Oscar Arias the president is sort of famous, he won a nobel peace price for diffusing the wars that plauged central america in the 80's.

Costa Rica's most famous person- living- is Franklin Chang D. He is a former NASA astronaut, and currently developing a variable pulse ion engine for space flight. He is the most widely known (in Costa Rica) and recognized person.

well they r many famous ppl, mayb not internationally but national, yes. But the most famous one is "Juan Santamaría" (who didn't let the country b slaved by the US, no offense, by burning the central comand of the "filibusteros".) There is also several presidents like "Tomás Guardia", he did a lot of things in the country, though he had tough problems, he put the first train in costa rica in 1860 from SJ (San José) to Puntarenas. Witch help a lot in the economie, well not realy, u know it's a long story, but from what happned in his time of president, were a lot of thing, he was the one to take away the punishment of death.

Not much help but at least you get to know something more.
