Giving a gift to a Costa Rican host family?
I'm leaving for Costa Rica on Saturday and I would like some ideas on gifts that I can bring to them while I'm staying in there home, studying abroad. I know its a married couple with no kids at home. My first thought was a good American wine but I couldn't think of any! So if anyone knows of any good American wines or any other gifts I can give to them, that would be great. Oh, I don't know why I thought of liquor as a gift. In case you were wondering..
Something specific to where you come from such as a book of photographs showing your state or province is always appreciated and they will enjoy sharing it with family and friends after you are gone.Be sure to bring a nice thank you card with you so that you can write your hosts a personal message thanking them for their hospitality when you leave.

Some Costa Rican's don't drink as much. Maybe for the man something like a T-shirt from where you are and for the women a body lotion from Victoria's Secret, I have taken some of these lotions and they absolutely love it b/c they have a unique smell and they to not have access to any Victoria's Secret products

I did a host stay with a Costa Rican family a couple years ago and brought a bottle of wine. The mother enjoyed it, as its difficult to come across a nice wine in Costa Rica.
Also went back and visited later and brought bath and body works stuff for the daughters and mother, which they also liked, as that stuff not as common down there.
