Yes it will be a rainy month. For reference, the dry season starts in December and it ends in late April. The rainy season starts in early May and it ends in mid December. September is not the month with the heaviest rains, so you might get some sunny days.

Ok now for the golf courses. Golf courses in Panama are either Private or Semi-Private, and depending if you stay on a hotel with an agreement with the private courses, you'll have to do with the semi-private course.

The semi-private course in Panama City is called Summit Golf & Country. It's located on the Gaillard Highway (some called the Gamboa Road as well), and it's easy to find. You only need to get on the road that leads to the Panama Canal Visitors Center, and keep on going until you see the golf course to your right.

Some hotels have an agreement with the Panama Golf Club, so you only have to pay the green fee and the cart if you wish, or you can walk.

There's a golf course at Coronado Beach, but if I'm not mistaken you have to be a hotel guest or a club member to play. Things may have changed with all the tourism in the area, so give them a call to see. It's called the Coronado Suites and Golf Resort.

The newest course is Mantaraya Golf Course at the Decameron Beach Resort. It's semi-private so if you want you can drive all the way over there and play a round of golf. Haven't played the course yet, but I've heard it's challenging, fast greens and a lot of sea breeze.

In my opinion the Panama Golf Club is the best course in the city (although I might be biased as I've played there since I was a kid), but Summit holds it's own as well because the fairways are tighter. The Nationwide Tour has a stop here in Panama, and they play the Panama Golf Club, so expect the greens to be fast.

If you fall in love with Panama, as I bet you will; plan to come back in 2 or 3 years, as there are at least 4 new golf courses to be finished in the next couple of years. Even Nicklaus is designing a golf course in an island resort in the Pearl Islands.

Good Luck!
