Truth is there isn't a bad place to take pictures in Costa Rica. It is a photographers paradise as the landscape, scenery, and wildlife located everywhere in the country offers a wide variety of photo opportunities everywhere you go.

You'll see beautiful trees, mountains, flowers, insects, animals, birds, mountain ranges and a lot more. If you are not familiar with the Macro function on your camera, I suggest you take a few minutes to learn it, as it will enable you to take amazing close-up shots.

If you are using any point and shoot digital camera, Macro mode is usually selected on the round dial on top of your camera and is represented by a flower looking symbol. Once in Macro mode, you can put your lens very close to a subject like a flower, insect, butterfly, or anything else and capture great detail clearly.

Use Landscape mode for shooting mountain ranges, and scenery. Either way, and no matter where in Costa Rica you end up, you'll find outstanding photo opps all over.

When I went to Costa Rica last spring I found the most beauiful pictures from a place called Mounta Verda, or any really up in the Mountains, we staid at an active Volcano and came out with some pretty amazing pictures from that and are river triop were we saw tocans, Crocodiles, a lizard that can walk on water and much more. We also went on a rain forest walk that was amazing even though we really experianced the rain in the forest, we also went on bridges there that were so high you were above any trees and you could see every were, although it was a bit pricey it really apid off, my sister is a amature photographer but she still got hundreds of dollars from some of these pictures! I hope this helps

I´ve taken excellent pictures in San Gerardo of Dota birds and hummingbirds, wildlife, plants, also at any of the volcanoes, the canopy tours, snorkeling, the mountains, there will not be a shortage of good places, but there might be a shortage of batteries.
