Good place on Costa Rica's caribbean coast??

I'm trying to decide on a honeymoon location on the east coast of Costa Rica. I don't want a resort-type place. I'm looking for white sand, warm, blue waters, tropical vegetation, comfortable cottages...

Anyone have any recommendations? Please help!

Puerto Viejo is cool to hang out but I wounldnt recommed it for a honeymoon because its dirty and soooo not romantic.. Punta Uva is beautiful... like a postcard... The roads are terrible so I wouldnt suggest you rent a scooter, my bf and i got into an accident and we saw someone else get into one too...

You should visit the area around the Manuel Antonio national park. It was gorgeous and if you go exploring, you can find beautiful isolated beaches and have them all to yourselves!

You could go to an Island. Bocas is actually a Panama island.

Of course, most of the beaches are great in Costa Rica, but it will be hard to find much information about one that isn't a big touristy resort-type place.

You might consider touring different parts of Costa Rica during your trip, and going to different beaches.

bocas del toro, its on panama costa rica border.

Try going to Uvita. Great beaches there. And if you want some foresty stuff (which is gorgeous and the drive up is AMAZING!) go to monteverde cloud forest.
Costa Rica is gorgeous everywhere. I will say San Jose is very city like, but get out of san jose and the rest is really honeymoony. Letsee, also, if you want something a bit touristy but still really nice go to Arenal. Theres a real nice waterfall there.
Have a good time! Its hard not to in Costa Rica.

Any Thing in the Puerto Viejo Area (Limon Province, in the caribean, 3 hours away from San Jose). You dont event need a reservation, just drive up there, shop around, and stay at the place you like the most. If you are looking for a non resort style... that is your place
