Guatemala?

If you have visited it, what was the thing you liked most about the country/culture?

Its a beautiful country. The highlands have wonderful mountainous scenery, colonial towns, and Mayan Indian culture. The Peten has Maya ruins like Tikal and also the jungle. Guatemala is about as exotic as you can get short of visiting Nepal, but its very close! On the down side, it is shockingly impoverished, and still seems scarred by its long civil war.

I was there last month and loved it so much I'm going again next week! The city I loved was La Antigua, Guatemala. I loved the energy, the people, the food, just walking around. It was very safe to walk around at night and there was such good night life/live music. There are also many side trips you can take from there: Lake Atlilan, the pyramids, San Antonio de Aguas Calientes, etc etc

Hope this helps!

The country is very beautiful, and the Maya people are incredible! Check out the photos and videos at http://www.atitlan.net .

That really depends on what do you enjoy doing... if you want adventure go to coban; if you want history, go to tikal and antigua; if you like to party, go to guatemala city. Beautiful country...
