1. Take a cab about 35.00US/maybe you can find someone around baggage claim that will share the fair with you (airport cabs are safe).
2. Hang out outside customs and wait for someone trying to load a shuttle that goes to Antigua $5-10/ it may continue on to Panachel(lake). If not there are shuttles that go to Panchel every hour or so from Antigua add on another $5. I recommend this.
3. You can check to see if Linea Dorada/Alamo (first class) bus goes to Panachel from Guate City. Its cheap but you have to take a cab $10 just to get to the bus station. Service isn't frequent enough.
4. Avoid chicken buses out of and into Guate city.

well, i no 100% that u wanna get to antigua first.
so, there are PLENTY of shuttle buses to antigua.
then u may want to stay or just go straight.
if u wanna spend a few hours in antigua,
just go to a travel agency, then u take the shuttle bus and u take the bus.
the ride wil approximitaely take 2-3 hours. and u will go high up into the mountains, and then down to the lake
