Guatemala and Belize Information?
I am thinking of going to Guatemala and Belize on a summer abroad program and wanted to know how the area is? we are going to be in the jungle and excavating the land? is the area safe? what is the weather like from mid june to mid july? any info is appreciated. thanks
It rains every single day in that period. May-Oct is the raining season, so defiantlyy bring gear. Also there are so manymountainss in Guate that the temperature depends on where you are. It can be 85 at Montericco and 65 in Guatemala city..
check the altitude of where you are going...it can get super cold at night! I've woken up shivering before in Xela.

Guatemala has its gang activity. MS-13 is there and so you need to watch out for that. Just know where to go and what to do so it would be best to have a local that you can trust along with you. Belize is remotely safe but like any other country proceed with caution. For being a British colony up to 1986 it is a very poor country and poor people sometimes take desperate measure so be careful. (Needless to say Britain certainly did absolutely nothing for that country other than drain their resources).

You will enjoy Guatemala. I am sure if you are going on a summer program you will be going to tourist areas. Antigua is nice you will love it there and is perfectly safe. The weather is wonderful that is why Guatemala is called the land of eternal spring. If you know the name of the place you are going I could give you better information.
