Guatemala... is there a supersition that gringos are there to grab their babies?
I came across this when I was reading a book about a woman cycling solo from Mexico to Honduras and San Salvador.
This woman was treated as if she had the plague because they feared she was there to grab their babies. I find this hard to believe.
What is the reality? Additional Details Smile, when I said it was hard to believe, I did not mean the baby snatching itself. The reaction of the people being so openly hostile. That's all.
I have read many factual articles and papers on this problem in Guatemala - the baby trade is big esp as the demand for Latin kids is high in Europe and Northern America. Some young kids are stolen so their organs are harvested - this is reported about a lot in China too, where people are poor and are desperate to survive by whatever means necessary. (Are you referring to just babies or foetus' as well?)
I don't know why the baby snatching is hard to believe - there are so many awful things happening in this world, baby snatching seems like old news.

It wouldn't surprise me. White people take the blame for everything in the world at the moment.
