First the sun comes up. Then people get out of bed. Then they take care of the the three S's. Then they get dressed. Then they either eat breakfast or skip it. Then they go to work. Sometimes around noon, they go to lunch. If you are a businessman, sometimes you have a couple of Martinis'. Then you go back to work. Then after work you stop off for the market. Then you go home. See your wife. Say hi to the kids.. read your mail, watch Nada mas que la verdad and go to bed. Only to repeat it the next day. Weekends (Friday and sat. Night you might go dancing or partying with friends) Sat night or Thurs. night youll probably go to mass, if you go to mass, so you dont jack up your "libre" Sunday. (If you dont have to work) If youre a bicyclist, you might ride in the cyclovia on Sunday. Or if not, its the day to get together with friends and family. Your day in Colombia depends a lot on what estrato you are. If you are Estrato 1, you are looking for food and a handout. If you are Estrato 4 you are middle class. If you are estrato 7 (the nickname of the uber rich) Youll have a maid who will clean your house, your car will be chauffered and you will have a secretary that will rub your back. |

You have a good question as most people have no idea of what that place on the map looks like in reality. Depending on where you are in the country the answer will change. I figure if you are doing a report, you are probably thinking about Bogota. Bogota is a nice city high in the Andes range. It is very "Western" like with tall buildings and "suburban" areas outside of the city. You can expect to see many more busses than most US cities and many more poor people. It can be a dangerous place and personal safety is always on mind and you must watch out. Thieves are common in the crowded streets and I had a friend whose family member was kidnapped by the FARC. Around the city you can find some extremely poor areas where people live in whatever hobbled up construction they can find. On Sundays they close many of the streets in parks and many turn out to walk or ride bikes with their families. As far as work and life itself it is mostly like any large city in the US. Don't know if this answers your question but if you want a quick and informative read locate a copy of Footprints "The South American Handbook" and it has some traveler generated advise and makes an effort to familiarize you with the city/country within 5 pages! Good luck |

I agree with MW, that question is too general for specific activities. If you wanna narrow down your goal you can write me at prettywoman24_99@yahoo.com and I will happily help you out. |

The typical day in South America is so different than a typical day in North America that your question is too broad. Where do you begin, with the cold shower or possibly with how you use the bathroom? Everything is different. All food is organic. All clothes and most products are manufactured nationally. Additionally the country is large and things vary greatly from place to place.
Perhaps if you start by specifying your age group and geographical region, you could begin to get some research going.
