If your not planning on studying there for a minimum of a month don't waste your money. Get a phrase book instead. In Costa Rica its usually teens or young adults not really there to learn spanish. Classes are over priced.
If you really want to learn go to Guatemala and get private lessons, its cheaper as well. |

20% of costarrican speak english. You won't need to learn spanish to enjoy the country. |

Yes!!! I went in October 2007 for a Spanish course in San Jose and it was absolutely wonderful!!! The name of the school was Intensa Learning School. I signed up for a 4 week course, and because it was the slow season, I was the only student in my class. It was very intense, but it was just what I needed. I stayed with a wonderful host family who lived right around the corner from the school...3 minute walking distance. They, too, were wonderful people. I received 2 meals a day, had a private room, and laundry service. I would suggest staying in the capital, San Jose. On the weekends, I was able to travel to the Caribbean side of the country; Limon, Cahuita and Puerto Vejio! They were wonderful places to visit.
I enjoyed my 37 days in Costa Rica so much that I came home, worked for 2 months and went back in January 2008 for 38 more days. However, I did not sign up for school; I just toured around the country and went to Panama to the Carnival. I also went to Carnival in Punta Reynes (sp). Also, I just returned from CR again 2 weeks ago! I really enjoy Costa Rica and all that it has to offer...and I am a travel junkie and have been to multiple countries throughout the world.
Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions or if you would like for me to provide you with the contact info. for the school I attended. I can get you a discount and tell you how to go about signing up without going through a third party.

You may check in Guanacaste maybe around Santa Cruz or Liberia towns, or close town to flamingo beach. I know in central valley they have a lot spanish schools for tourist.
Good luck! |

I taught part time at a Universidad Latina and the British Institute, but there are many other language schools such as the Intensa, some have schools outside of San José.
Each student learns at a different rate and according to how much they like it and want to learn.
There are also many people that give private lessons.
