Been twice. The first time I had a terrible experience there and couldnt see much (was mugged on my way to the hotel and only stayed in Bogota) but decided to give it a second chance and I didnt regret it. I went to Bogota (didnt like it that much, sorry) Medellin (I loved it!) and then Cali which I absolutely loved! Then I went to the caribbean, to San Andres and at the end my second experience wiped out the first one and I was so happy to give it a second try. Wherever you go in Colombia, dont miss the Salt Cathedral which I would return many times if I could! The food was also delicious. |

Despite what you read about Colombia, it's a really beautiful country.
Bogota is a huge city with all the comfort you can think of. Other cities like Medellin, Cali, Bucaramanga, Pereira, etc, are great too. The Coffee Region is lovely.
Colombian people are incredibly friendly. They'll try to make your stay a very happy one.
The beaches on the Atlantic Coast are out of this world.
In general, Colombia is a great country to visit. As in any other country in the world, you must be careful, especially in the big cities and ask the natives which parts of the country you shouldn't visit.
I loved it there!!! My husband and I are going back this year.

Yes, i've been and can confirm that its a nice place with very pleasant people. The women are stunning and very accommodating. Cocaine is impressively cheap if you're that way inclined.
I wouldn't go out and explore though as the risk of kidnapping is obviously greater than elsewhere. You'll find that a bar will call you a taxi and forewarn the next bar you are going to of your arrival who will confirm it when you arrive. |
