Has anyone go to Bocas del Toro in Panama??

Yes, I was in Bocas last November. We stayed at the Hotel Bocas del Toro. It was about 80 a night, included hot water. I think it was all right. It was on the water.

Yes it is more expensive there because everything has to come to the islands by boat. Also it is a tourist area and people make the prices higher for everything.

I would wait until the "Wet" (rainy) season is over. Go in January to March. You can go in December, but last year the rains stayed until the middle of December. It rains a lot more there but there are days when it is sunny.

If you go to the beach island, be very careful of the rip tides.
A guy of 25 yrs, just drowned there. A wave knocked him over and the rip tide took him out to sea.

You can go by plane from Panama City. You would have to
Jet into PTY airport and then take a taxi to the Allbrook Airport, about 30 dollars and hop on Aeroperlas, the regional airline from there to Bocas. The flight is about an hour long. It is a very safe airline.

If you are fluent in Spanish and have more time than money, you can get a local bus on the road in front of the PTY airport and it will take you to the bus terminal in Allbrook for about .50. Then take a taxi from there to the Allbrook Domestic airport for about two bucks.

i'm from Panama country, and yes Bocas del toro it is very nice. but you have to go during the dry season. December to April. i;m moving next year there.

The best time to go is in summer. ThatÂ´s jan to apr.
But still if you go other time, you will probably find rain, but good sun too.
I highly recommend Hotel olas de la madrugada, I dont remember the web but you can find it by search. It cost about $40 /night and its very comfortable. Or thereÂ´s a new hotel, more luxurious, is called Hotel Playa Tortuga. That's about $150/night.
The plane from Panama City is $140, and you can buy it in Aeroperlas.com or flyairpanama.com.
It is not expensive at all, it all depends on your needs.

Bocas is very very beautifull. ItÂ´s worth the visit.

Bocas is very very very nice, little town where you can find the best perfect coasts, beaches... I ve been there within a group of people, We paid $13 per person for a night, Can you imagine???

Do not forget to take a boat trip, they take you to hilarious islands, wild places, places you can see dolphins jumping etc.

I hope you ll enjoy it, I wanna go there again...

I would look at Lonely Planet for good hotels, they do a good job.
The best time weather-wise is September October (more sun less rain) but it is probably not the party season.

You can go by air from Panama City. Nature Air was flying from San Jose CR, but i think they filed a request with the CR government to end service.
