Yes I have. I have taken the road past the last big town, Chepo, and driven to where it becomes gravel and then dirt.

Past that, it is a small trail. It is really a no man's land and dangerous to go further if you are not armed. It is full of bad guys.

I have been on Lake Bayano which sort of paralells the road. It was created by the damming of several small rivers.

Your Google Earth will be a good resource for you to see what the land is like and you can follow the road and see where it goes.

The Panamanian government wants to improve part of the road, because there are Teak growers there who have large trucks to take the trunks to market. But they don't want it paved all the way to Colombia.

They have a tough enough time now keeping Colombians out.
