Has anyone vacationed in Peru?
I want to do a 1 week vacation with my husband in March and we're thinking about Peru. Would 1 week be enough time to visit Peru. We would like to see Machu Picchu. Any suggestions on where else to go? Where to fly in? Itinerary suggestions?
Whever you go in Peru, I do not think one week is sufficient to fully enjoy any part of it. I have been through there on numerous trips. One day I plan to go to Machu Pichu but hate to do the two days in Cusco (high altitude higher than Bogota which hurts me for two days). Iquitos is nice but you have to fly there or go by boat. Amazon river and jungle. Very friendly there. Lima has it's dangers but Miraflores area is safe. I personally like San Andres Island in the caribbean. That is the poor man's Grand Cayman! go here for island info http://groups.msn.com/BigJuicesSanAndresIsland/sightsofsanandreasisland.msnw

one week is not enough to visit much in Peru
I would recommend going to Cuzco, Machu Picchu, Arequipa, canyon Colca, Huacachina, Huaraz, Trujillo and lake Titicaca
but one week would be enough maybe only for cuzco, Machu picchu and some places in that area

Peru is awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But i think 1 week is not enough, try to be here 2 weeks, and you´ll enjoy more
Machu Picchu is great !!!! but in Cusco you´ll be like 4 days and is beautiful !!!
I think you can be here more time and try to know another places, lake titicaca for example, is beautiful too !!!
And peruvian food is delicious !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made my pilgrimage about 7 years ago. There are many sights around Cusco that are as interesting to me as Machu Pichu. You will fly into Lima. Being only a week you dont have much time to see much else. In Lima I would stay in Miraflores or San Isidro. Many people say bad things about LIma but I think Miraflores and San Isidro are as nice as any place in the world
