Have you ever been to Lima, Peru?

Lima is a big city. It is overcrowded and traffic congestion is a major problem. Air quality isn't great because of the amount of vehicles there. Like most major cities, crime is a problem. You'll find a lot of shoe stores and American fast food restaurants. People love eating chicken. They have quite a few supermarkets the size of Wal-Mart selling everything from food to clothing to alcohol. There is a huge gap between the rich and the poor. Despite what the books tell you, it is not unusual to find college graduates driving taxi. People are quite religious and go to mass on Sunday.

Lima is a large city. Many attractions, excellent food, friendly people and not too expensive but... many poor people, some rich areas, many slums quarters (a kind of favelas) surrounding. You can find anything you need at reasonable price. There are nice places to visit (colonial style houses), museums, but few parks. Public transport not very convenient. Lima is drought city.

There are good and bad parts. If you look the tourist, you're more likely to be robbed, but I feel safe here.

Ovalo Miraflores and the old Center are sually where tourists go. LIvcing conditions very from the super rich to the super poor.

lima its like all capitals in sudamerica.... with good and bad parts, things, staffs, people etc etc.

u can find nice and expensive places in lima,, also cheap places, for to stay, live, to eat, to get fun etc etc

miraflores ((in lima)) its the most representative turistic place:) and expensive too :)

I was in Lima very briefly, also on my way to Cusco. It is a big city, very dirty and with dense traffic. It's on the ocean and it seems that trash is taken right to the edge of the water and heaped right there. There are huge piles of trash right at the ocean's edge.

There are beautiful neighborhoods, dense with trees and with beautiful colonial style homes. There are also very poor neighborhoods. In the heart of the city there are old colonial style buildings. The government buildings fly a flag which is brightly striped rainbow flag that we thought looked like the gay pride flag here.

There are a surprising number of Chinese restaurants.

Lots of beautiful old buildings, the wierdest thing about when I was there that there were police just standing everywhere and we were in downtown Lima and no joke there was a tank... not for any specific purpose just there in case I guess!
The people were soo friendly though.
It was so humid there, after we would get outta the shower it was like we had not bathed at all because we would be sticky right away.

Lima is like any other city .... it has some parts to go and bad parts ...

I have stopped in Lima twice on the way to cusco and pisco.

I felt lima is a huge city with lots of crime.

we went to the starbucks and the people there lock their laptops to the tables.

As well, i know a few tourist who were robbed there..

there are lots of slums in lima as well
