Olá, Mary! Tudo bem?
Have I ever thought about visiting any country in South America?
To tell the truth, although I've lived in Mexico and Honduras (I'm from the US), South America has never had *that* much appeal to me....
except for the "Patropi", Brazil.
I will be moving to SĂŁo LuĂs, MaranhĂŁo, soon. I chose it for several reasons, among them:
I'm very cold natured and never want to see winter again, except maybe in movies;
I love Portuguese;
Brazilians, as a whole, are very positive people, and I want to surround myself with that (I read that Brazilians are the smile of the world);
At the crossroads between 2 regions, SL has a nice mixture of different cultures: the Afro-Brazilian, the indigenous, and the European;
SL is rich in legends, customs, folklore, and artisanry (I'm especially interested in bobbin lace and learning how to make it);
Hospital SARAH has a branch in SL....
I'm disabled and am forming an NGO with disabled artisans in SĂŁo LuĂs.
