Hidden gems of Latin America?

Okay, I have been to Peru and Costa Rica, two of the most known travel destinations in Latin America. Now, I am wondering what's a more "hidden" gem in Latin America, somewhere where maybe the tourist infrastructure is less developed and people do not know as much about?

The preserved beauty of Honduras? The cities of Colombia?

I am aware that some destinations are considered more dangerous, etc, but that does not generally phase me, so every country in Central America, and Rio de Janeiro, and Caracas, are OKAY with me :)

Thank you!

Honduras has very much to offer the traveler, from the Mayan ruins of Copan to the mountains and rain forests with white water rivers to the beaches of the north coast and the Bay Islands, or the black sand beaches of the Pacific coast. Other than the largest of the Bay Islands, most of Honduras hasn't been "discovered" yet and is pretty inexpensive. If you want to encounter a way of life that has remained unchanged for several generations, there are remote areas that don't even have electricity and you will find the friendliest, most gracious, and hospitable people along with the beautiful geography.

La Antigua, Guatemala is magical in my opinion. It shouldn't be missed...in fact, I know a number of people who have gone to Antigua with the intention of having a short visit and passing through, but have stayed on and made a life there. It's one of those kinds of places. I am one of those people. There is a magazine (published online as well as hard copy) called Revue. The spanish version is called Revista. Check it out and you can see why Antigua holds such appeal for so many people.
