Honeymoon in Guatemala, where to go?

Thinking of going for my honeymoon to Guatemala. I Have already researched a little but would like a natives perspective or someone who has gone there on a romantic getaway or honeymoon. So far I've thought of going to Lake Atitlan , Tikal , Guatemala Antigua, and maybe Pacaya. Any romantic places to stay or visit?? Thanks in advance !

Just in case anyones suggest Costa Rica .... No because I live there, Panama ..........had a bad experience, Nicaragua ......... already been to and similar things to do as Costa Rica. So please don't suggest it. Thank you

the only place I'd go is Antigua. It's your safest bet.

My husband and I spent a belated honeymoon in Guatemala and Belize. Guatemala is a beautiful choice for a honeymoon. It's so romantic. We spent most of our time in Belize, but managed to visit Tikal, Rio Dulce, and some surrounding areas. Also close to Rio Dulce is El Castillo de San Felipe and Finca El Paraiso where you can walk to an amazingly beautiful waterfall.
In Belize, Ambergris Caye is a beautiful spot for newlyweds. There are more Mayan ruins to see, snorkeling, diving, and good nightlife. I guess it depends on what you like to do.
We did spend one night sleeping in a tent on the beach. They give you a tent, a lantern, and a foam mattress. It sounds kinda cheap but it was really cool. In Belize, we stayed also at the Banana Beach Resort, which was very nice but you have to watch when you stay because it gets expensive. Stay in the off season for the best deal. In Guatemala, I can recommend the Hacienda Tijax. Beautful Setting, very romantic. It's always a good idea to shop around. Find a place that maybe offers packages or can help you find tours that you are interested in.
Good Luck, and congratulations on your future marriage.

Rio Dulce is nice as well if you like the water. Maybe see about getting a room on the water then take a boat trip to Livingston and the beach.

Antigua however is very nice and very romantic. If you can afford it, Casa Santo Domingo is beautiful.

Question SLaYeR!
i wil have to say puerto barrios!!! but pl love antigua
