How safe is costa rica? I am possibly going to be traveling through costa rica this summer either by myself or with another friend. My friend and i are both 18 and girls, so I was just wondering how safe costa rica was to travel through by bus, taxi? We're not planning on being stupid and both of us have good common sense, so just in general how safe is cr? what are some bad areas if there are any? what should we look out for? and what are some places we should definitely visit while in cr???
buses are very safe and they have very good service....if you have common since like you say you will be fine....the airport is in Alajuela--not San Jose...check out Vida Tropical...google it....it is a very nice b&b...they will give so much really good advice...Greg works there and is from the states....email me if you like for more info...i do volunteer work at hatchedtoflyfree.org...in Alajuela

As long as you don't walk around San Jose at night you will be fine.

Costa Rica is a fun place to go! but as other countries it may be dangerous. I wouldn't recommend taking the bus. If you have enough money rent a car or use taxi.
