she can write a cheque (or check for you americans) or get a local bank to write the cheque and post it to you

creativetravelers
Paypal is much easier and the cost is almost nothing, you will need just a credit card. There are other ways that you can see at www.southamericamyjourney.com

If you need the money in day or two your options are western union, bank wire transfer, maybe money gram or express mail a certified check (the bank in Canada will probably hold that for 20 days if they cash it at all).

What I see is that Western Union cost you $ 60.20 for if you send $1000 and $ 108.50 for sending $ 2000. You haven't considered the taxes ( IGV & ITF ).

If she goes to Scotiabank (she doesn't have to be a costumer) for sending $ 1000 they'll charge her S/. 55 (aprox. $ 20) and for sending 1001-3000 they'll charge her S/. 73 (aprox. $ 26.55). You will have to pay in your bank in Canada whatever they charge you for recieving the transfer, but I bet is minimum.

Forget Western Union!
