How come Costa Rica is ignored in North America? |
And by ignored I don't mean Costarican history should be taught in North American highschools, I just wish people merely knew its existence. I can't understand how Costa Rica receives over a million North American visitors every year, and stilll every time I introduced myself as Costarican all I hear is "Puerto Rico?"
LIKE COME ON! PUERTO RICO IS A FRIGGIN' ISLAND OFF THE COAST OF SOUTH AMERICA. THERE'S NO RELATION WHATSOEVER! |

Costa Rica is a very beautiful country with vegetation and progress and good level of soccer playing, it's time for Costa Rica to be well known in the US. |

That really depends on who you ask. I know where Costa Rica is, and my family knows plenty of Costa Ricans. I think you'll find that most Americans are familiar with Central and Latin American countries that have the most immigrants here. Perhaps if the Costa Rican government would spend more to promote tourism here, more folks would know about it and perhaps want to visit. |

You must be talking to some very uneducated North Americans, then. Nobody I know would ever confuse Puerto Rico with Costa Rica. I have heard plenty of good comments about Costa Rica from both tourists and residents. Perhaps you need to strike up a conversation with people who actually graduated from grade school. Honestly, more people are aware of Costa Rica than you think. |
