If you are going to Nazca, you can take bus companies like Ormeño, Cruz del Sur, they have good schedules, and buses are safe & comfortable. Also, you have to visit Cusco, Arequipa, Puno, Iquitos, Huaraz, Chiclayo; and taste the delicious peruvian food which is well-known all over the world. |

sit on your magic carpet and chant Nazca over and over until you arrive - watch the first step off your carpet - there is a regulation in nazca that all carpets must stop in the 20 foot zone. |

The advice from other people is accurate (okay, maybe not the magic carpet..) but they failed to include one detail--bus travel in developing countries is worse than in the US or Europe.
Those of you who have endured a Greyhound trip might not see how this is possible, but consider this: the vehicles are older, the roads virtually unpassable at times, and rest stops are, um, tricky. All of this will be quickly forgotton as the gorgeous mountains unfold before you and you are transported to another world.
So, yes, take a bus. However, plan LOTS of time for the trip and bookend the ride with secure accomodations. By the way, bring wet wipes (or similar), as well as a snack & something to drink. |

The only way to get to the town of Nazca, is by bus. Once in Nazca, you should contact a tout agency to take a air tour over the lines of Nazca.
I would take a tour from Lima. Specially if you doesn't speak spanish.
Nazca (or Nasca) is located 450 km south of Lima, about 6.5 hours.
I travelled this week to the city of Ica (300 km) and the bus fare was S/. 25.00 (US $ 7.50), so, the fare to Nazca probably will cost you no more than S/. 50.00 (US $ 15)
I don't know the fares to the lines
take a look at this link:

in Peru there is a great connection with busses: they are very cheap and they run quite often...and you can enjoy the beautiful lanscapes that Peru has to offer! I hope you will have enough time to visit Cuzco and Arequipa as well! Have a good trip! |
