There are boats that take people to and from Cartagena through the panama canal, They charge anywhere from $200 to $400 depending on how many stops. Check down by the boat docks, ask around , it should'nt take long to find a boat.
Once your in Panama city its easy, you can take either Tica bus or panoline. It cost $25 to get to San Jose and its a 16 hr ride. Dont be in such a rush, I had a much better time in Panama than I did in Costa Rica. Costa Rica Sucks!!!
