The Peruvian Government is "Unstable, as usual". In fact, the ENTIRE Cabinet just resigned the other day! Now the current president, Alan Garcia, just appointed a leftist as prime minister. The new PM is Yehude Simon.

The government on the whole, throughout modern history has always been filled with corruption and scandal of some sort. Former president Alberto Fujimori sits in jail as we speak, having finally been caught and arrested in Chile. He originally fled to Japan after being brought up on Human Rights Violations charges, but was finally detained when he visited Chile. Fujimori even led a coup against his own govenment in 1992, while he was still the head of the government!

My Father was born and raised in Peru. His parents were Japanese immigrants. His family compound is still in the Miraflores district of Lima. Not a month goes by that we don't hear from some relative there complaining and opening the conversation with "Now guess what those clowns are up to?" in reference to the government.

The big news from Peru recently is the mass resignations from the President's cabinet from the oil scandal. They have a President and Vice President. Try googling for the details.
