Brazil and Northern Argentina and Norther Chile can be hot. However, when you get south to places like Bariloche, Puerto Varas, Ushuaia and other places the weather can still be cool. Don't expect these places to get into the 70's (fahrenheit) very often. Ushuaia will mostly stay in the 50's for their daytime highs.

diciembre here is spring, here in santiago we wear in the morning a t-shirt and sweater, with jeans,
in santiago won't rain for that date, but if you go very Chile south if it will rain,
take care from chile |

Depends where in Brazil, but overall is warm.
Rio and the north/northeast being very hot (north = amazon/northeast Bahia, Ceara, etc).
Also if you are going way south in Argentina and Chile can get cold, but thats way south in Tierra del Fuego. Buenos Aires in December is very nice. |

In Brazil is very heat in December. 40°C! You should bring light clothes. I mean clothes of summer. I think in Argentina and Chile will be heat too but no like here. They will be in the summer too. |
