How safe is it to visit Guayaquil, Ecuador?

Are there any no/go or dangerous areas in Guayaquil?

As safe as it is to visit Los Angeles, CA or Brooklyn, NY.
Just use common sense and make sure you know Spanish.

It's as safe as anywhere else as long as you are smart about things just like anywhere else. There is a central area geared towad tourists that is very nice and well kept. I like Guayaquil. Not a ton to see as a tourist. Something you MUSN'T MISS is El Parque de las Iguanas. Not the oficial name of course but can't remember it right now. Hundreds of iguanas climb all over you and are incredibly tame. You'll love it! That is of course assuming you like animals. Have fun!

a few but they are off of the turists limits. (not limits but sightseings)
In general No.

This city in general is not safe. If you decide to visit Guayaquil go directly to El Malecon, this is a modern and the only nice location in the city, don't walk alone around the city. It will be better if you walk with 2 or more friends along with you. You will not find any historical buildings or churches. If this is what you want to see then I'll recommend you to visit Quito or any city in the highlands, they are safer and there's more to see around.

Just tell your bodyguards to take you to the nice places. You are getting bodyguards right?

you dont want to go there. trust me.it is one of the bigest cities in ecuador but it is also the most dangerous four tourists.
I recomend visiting the tropical areas. not the coast is too dangerous.
