Patrick, the school starts from the first grade through sixth grade. The high school starts from the seventh to the eleventh grade.

vacations:
â– From november until february.
â– Easter Holidays; can be in March or April and is a full week.
â– Mid-year holidays; two weeks.

In my personal opinion, I recommend you enroll in a private high school because they are more prepared to receive students from the states.

"Summer break" from December to february. There are "holy week"(semana santa) vacations(1 week) and "vacaciones de medio año"(Mid year vacation) in June/July.

Hope you have fun in Costa Rica!

The school year is like this: "Summer break" (meaning when the weather is nicest, hottest and no rain) from November through January. In February, school starts for the year and lets out in October. There are breaks, such as Semana Santa (Holy Week). Also, school children in Costa Rica all wear uniforms, even in public schools.

Hey1023
Well, I assume that you are probably going to attend an international school. If you are, then the school year will most likely be structured like the one in the US.

If you plan to attend a local school, the summer break, I think, starts in July and finishes in September (which is still not that different from what you are used to).
