I'm going to Peru and I was told you can't buy tampons there so to bring plenty. What do the women use?

Serious answers only please!

In many latin american countries and cultures, its considered inappropriate for virgins to use tampons. So many stores don't carry them, and smaller stores might get a bit uncomfortable selling them to an unmarried woman. But in larger cities, they understand that not all cultures have the same stigma attached to tampons, and they are readily available.

That is not true, I lived in Lima for many many years and you can by tampons. Most women prefer the sanitary pads and just use tampons in the summer (to go to the beach etc).
You can get them in different brands, kinds and sizes in big stores and little stores.
Even in this web page from a Peruvian supermarket, type Tampax and you will see they do have them.

Tampons are hard to find but not impossible to find in Lima. Some upscale hotels may also have a small stock for emergencies. Peruvians tend to use sanitary pads.

trust me they use tampons, only they have different kinds then we do. Just stock up if you don't trust them.
