I used to live in Peru, and when I moved back to the States I brought my cat with me. It wasn't a problem; we just had to get some special papers from the vet, etc. I don't believe there is a quarantine period - of course, it may be different entering Peru, but I would think the US would be more strict. One thing to keep in mind: sometimes the airlines don't let animals fly during certain months of the year (summer), due to heat. You might want to check that out.

About your cats: Where will you be living when you get to Peru? Do they allow pets? Dogs can be very vicious in Peru - they are often trained to be attack dogs (for protection) and there is no leash law. I lost my cat to some neighborhood dogs. I'm not advising against cats - I am just saying that you should think about that when you consider where you are living. If you decide not to bring them, you can definitely get cats there once you're settled. However, there shouldn't be a problem with you bringing them if you make sure to look into all the logistics of traveling and your housing there.

Only if they are Peruvian (no, just kidding.) Yes, I don't see a problem.

Yes you can!!! You might want to get into the consulate web page and take a look to the regulation. Usually they ask for some vaccines but that's about it!

Gina
Yes, you can. They will need to be taken to your vet for a health check-up no more than a month before you go. You must get your vet to fill out an international health certificate (you get this from your vet). Then you have to send this paper to your state's department of agriculture (which they will fill out part, but NO MORE THAN 10 days from your flight) and ask them to forward the papers to the consulate of Peru. There are fees involved as well.

Well i'm half Peruvian and I will tell you this, Peru is one of the most beautifulest countries in the world but the majority of people don't really like cats...........(a-hem)......so I would take care of my acts if I were you......but other than that Peru is a beautiful country and i'm sure you will enjoy living there!

BEST WISHES!!!!!
