I'm studying abroad in Chile--what do I wear?

I have traveled a lot and know not to wear tennis shoes, but I'm talking more specifically about for my legs. I heard shorts just aren't common, and wearing the American "booty" shorts (basically the shorts you would see any 21-year-old female in the US wearing on a summer day) are not at all appropriate. It will be around 90, so what does a college-age girl wear on a HOT summer day?

I don't really wear skirts...

On the streets wear whatever makes you comfortable, but keep in mind that Chileans are generally "thread-heads" and do care what they wear. So pretty soon you'll see what's "in", it's a great place to shop too.

Inside the Universities you have to dress casual but skirts, pants or jeans (no shorts allowed) and it's OK to use tennis shoes or sandals.

PS. Maria Perez, I told you before, our "thing" was jus a one night stand . . . . . leave it there, ok? xxxxoooo

Stay away from Memorex!!!! He betrays his friends and will sell his mum for money!!! Give him thumbs down always! He´s a troll!!!!!

Everyone in South America wears jeans. Boys, girls, hot day, cold day. Jeans for every occasion. Alternatively you can wear shorts but not really the booty shorts more like 3/4 length ones. T shirts you cannot really go wrong with. This is only really if you want to blend in. On a hot Saturday or Sunday some people wear shorts. It is just during the week everyone wears jeans

Enjoy the South of the continent.

Chile is still a very conservative country, skip the booty
dress to impress, they are class concious, don't look like a hooker

Chileans are very fashionable I lived there for 13 years alot of european fashions got to Chile before the U.S Go ahead and wear what ever you want but I would't wear shorts, whoever told you that is right. They are not very common. Girls in Chile do wear alot of jeans and high heals although flats are more in style now. Also jean mini skirts too.

I really would stay away from the shorts though. You will be surprised how fashionable and trendy alot of them are. Even among the lower income, they may have only one two nice outfits but they are going to be nice :) Presentation is very important to Chile you dont see many people "roll out of bed and put their hair in a pony tail and walk out the door"
Think of it as a european country....honestly

HAve fun it is an amazing place I am proud to call home!
