I dont recommned Aerolineas Argentinas as they are always on strike and I've missed many flights with them over the years. My best advice:
-Buenos Aires to Iguazu : Austral airlines.
-Buenos Aires to Chile: LanChile, a bit more expensive but way more reliable.
-Santiago-Lima: LanChile or Lan Peru.

Buenos Aires: dont miss Puerto Madero, Recoleta, Palermo, Boca, downtown.
Santiago: Cerro San Cristobal (parque metropolitano), Wineries, ViÃ±a and Valparaiso.
Lima: Larcomar, Miraflores, San Isidro, historic downtown.

If you go to a major travel agent, they can sell you an air pass which will probably cover all these flights.
But go for someone like flight savers, rather than thomas cook - they'll deal with a lot more scheduled airlines (and less "two weeks in Ibiza") so know what they're talking about a bit better.
I worked for a flight consolidator, and our preffered airline for internal flights was LAN. They're quite cheap, and a lot of the other South American airlines always seem to be on the verge of banckruptcy!

Just as an extra tip, if you fly international with LAN, or another One World carrier, like BA, Iberia or American Airlines, these air passes will be cheaper!

You can only fly to Santiago from BA, Mendoza or Cordoba, so BA-Puerto Iguazu-BA-Santiago-Lima would be the best routing. You probably can't get it all on one ticket, though.

Internal flights between South American countries can be pretty expensive at least it seems that way when you're there. It's a huge area to cover though so I'd probably recomend you do at least one flight (looking into the prices from home would be better.)
Buses are cheaper but obviously they take far longer. Your best bet to Iguazu is by bus. It'll take about 16 hours so take an overnight bus to save on a hotel. I'm not sure you can get from Iguazu to many places direct. I'd recommend going to Salta (wine tour from there maybe) but you may need to return to Buenos Aires first.
Personally I loved Buenos Aires, there's so much to do there. The food is great - try and find a restaurant called 'Siga la Vaca (if you're not vegetarian) for great value steaks.

A direct bus from BA to Chile takes 24 hours. You could fly to Santiago from BA.I don't know when you're going but Argentina's national airline - Aerolines Argentinas does flights to Santiago from Â£34.60. Then work your way up to Lima.

Don't miss Atacama Desert, Chile and a trip from there to the Bolivian Salt flats (if you have time - definitely worthwhile), Colca Canyon, Arequipa, Cusco (get the train to Machu Picchu for speed) Puno for Lake Titicaca. I didn't really enjoy Lima so much, a couple of days is enough there.

Another option is to go from Salta, northern Argentina to Arica, Chile. Then you could back track to Santiago (seeing the Atacama desert enroute). Then maybe fly to Lima, then see the sights and come back to Lima at the end.

So many options.. enjoy!
