I am going to C.R. in Oct. (San Jose, Arenal, and Monteverde) for a week how bad will the rain be? |
I know it is the "green season". We have rainforest canopy tours, zip line trip, and whitewater rafting as well as generlly relaxing and hiking planned. Can I expect these activitiies to be ok or will I be stuck in my room the whole time? I know its impossible to predict with certainty the weather 3 months away but maybe some of you have expierience in C.R. this time of year and can advise on your findings. I CAN'T WAIT!!! Thanks! |

I'm a U.S. citizen who has lived in Costa Rica for 20 years. There are a lot of misconceptions about the rainy season. While October is normally one of our rainiest months, every day is usually sunny in the morning becomes overcast in the early afternoon and then rains in the afternoon and sometimes into the evening. However, starting in mid-October the rains tend to dissipate as we go into a transition period from the rainy season to the dry season. You definitely will not be marooned in your hotel room and I can guarantee that you'll have a very enjoyable vacation in Costa Rica. |

October is one of the rainiest months. You can expect a LOT of rain, specially in Monteverde, where it really rains!
But on the green season there are also many beautiful mornings with sunshine. If you come prepared to see rain, without thinking this can be an obstacle, then enjoy your rainforest adventure!!
The whitewater rafting in this season can be a little bit dangerous, better check with your tour guide.
Are you going on the Aerial Tram tour? I recommend it, it`s fantastic, because there you can really experience how intense rain can be in the middle of the jungle. |

Dont worry, youre still gonna be able to enjoy the tours, your gonna have a blast.
By the way, jump on the Party Bus, the rain never affects that.

I generally prefer Costa Rica during the "green season" but October is especially rainy. In Monteverde and San Jose, October is probably the rainiest one of all. I would expect to get very wet. White water rafting and zip lining are actually very nice in the rain however. |

Well... October is the rainiest month! (except in the Atlantic region). But usually the mornings are sunny, so try to do lots of things in the morning! |
