It rains almost like clock work. I live in Golfito de Punteranas in the southern zone. Here it will rain at approx 2:15 til 4 pm daily. Sometimes a shower for am hour in the evening too. But, you can see it coming. Then you can see it going ! ! ! Bring an umbrella (collapsable is easier). I change bars during the no rain times lol
Enjoy your trip.

Actually you will be amazed at how little it rains there during their "Rainy" season!

I go to CR at least one a year to visit friends there in Escazu and San Jose and I have only been rained on one time in the last twelve years! And the rain lasted all of about a half hour!

Good Luck!

You'll be fine... even when it rains hard or a lot, it is beautiful. And it is something I really miss about living there. I used to sleep so peacefully when it rained on the tin/metal roof. (I was on bedrest during my pregnancy and slept a lot during the day)

I always found the rain refreshing and coming from someone who had very little knowledge of CR before moving there.. It never rained as much as I had imagined when I originally heard "wet season!"

Puntarenas the province is pretty big. The city of Puntarenas is boring. Where are you going exactly?Further south of the province (Quepos, Manuel Antonio), there is rainforest and the green season is from may to november. It rains the most in october and november and not at all around 2 weeks in june/july. Mornings are still sunny usually and it would start raining in the afternoon for 1 hour sometimes more. Then it is very hot and humid, all wet, but still warm.
