Entering Costa Rica with a valid passport grants you 90 days to remain in-country as a tourist.

Tourist status does NOT allow you to work and Costa Rica Migracion strictly enforces this policy.

The company or program you are working through should have all necessary paperwork lined-up prior to your departure.

Absolutely, ask the company arranging this exchange program about this.

ticosland2008
You don't need a visa to travel to go Costa Rica. Don't bother with the hassle. You can stay for 90 days with just a valid passport. When the 90 days are almost up, travel down to Panama on a shopping weekend, stay for 72 hours there, and then come back. You can stay another 90 days and so on.
If you need any more information about Costa Rica, try the TicosLand.com website.

Yes, you need a Visa. There are several types, so if you don“t know spanish or have no clue of which kind of visa here“s the PDF file for the one you need. Get the requirements from your employee

Well, you will need to go to Migracion y Extranjeria and solicit a work permit, It is way easier if your employer does this for you.

you are allowed to be in the country for 90 days without any problem, on a tourist visa. It also depends what is your country of origin, I ,know that Dominican Republic and Colombian Citizens DO need a visa

also if you come from these countries: Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, French Guiana and Venezuela you will need a yellow fever vaccination certificate.
