That's right, its Huancayo, but the H its muted in Spanish; while you are there, there is a lot you can do!!! I recommend you visit the Mantaro River Valley, it has a lot of small towns full of things to see and to learn, the city of Huancayo itself its very interesting to see; go to the "bosque de rocas" (rocks wood).
About the food, its advisable to take it lightly unless you are used to high altitudes (it about 9000 ft over sea level) and digestions gets slower; and here we like strong flavors, so be careful with spicy stuff; i would recommend you the trout fried in butter or typical "pachamanca" (several types of meat cooked underground with potatos and vegetables) there is a lot more so just go for it, but with caution.
In Lima you can experiment some more because it has all the types of food of Peru, and that its a lot!!!
Hope you enjoy your stay |

You `ve asked Alot!,.Food,..Ceviche,the borgonia grapes,Chirimoya Imperial,,In Lima eat dinner at La Rosa Nautica in Miraflores,Punta Azul for lunch,.Take a tour on the Mirabus,.Many Cathedrals to see too,...In Tarma,.take a tour of the mountain & jungle from there,.is Beautiful,..Huancayo,..a guide will help. While in Peru,.Seek other 'Americanos',...I`ll probably be in Miraflores in Feb myself,..when beggars confront you,..Just say " No Gracias "without breaking stride ...Go to 'Larcomar',..you`ll find other people like yourself there in Miraflores ( Lima ) |

The spelling is Huancayo
In Tarma I recommend you try Manjarblanco, cheese they got a very good cheese.
In Lima ceviche, arroz con pollo, anticucho, picarones, papa a la huancaina, arroz con leche, mazamorra, lomo saltado...oh so much!!!
Huancayo i really dont know whats good there, but you can ask the locals when you get there.
I'm from Lima thats why I can recommend all those dishes. |
