Im Peruvian and I can tell you that you must see Machu Pichu. And check out the women too : )

And admire the cuisine. Try Ceviche

There will be other people to tell you about sites. If you are interesting, write me, and give me some kind indication of what interests you and I'll try to help.

Foodwise:

Chupe de Camarones (shrimp soup)
Ceviche (done very well there) They have awesome
Ceviche bars in many locations.
Antichuchos (sp?)

Chicha is a drink made from purple corn and my Peruvian relatives and husband like it. If left to distill can be an adult drink.

Fruits specific to the area:

Chirimoya (sp?) a fruit green on the outside, white on the inside with pits, it's a delicate fruit and lovely. Coconut crossed with a watermelon is a fair description.

Actually, try many fruits because they are different.

Potatoes are a main stay also. Ocapa is a yellow chili sauce that's great. You can buy instant packages to remember you holiday at home. They aren't too bad at all.

They serve french bread with meals and they have many soups and main entrees.

Enjoy, I travel with my pallet (I'm not fat, just LOVE good food).

It's a diverse and interesting place.

you have to taste anticuchos, lomo saltado, papa a la huancaina, ceviche, chicha morada, pisco, arroz con leche and alfajores. They are some of the delicious typical foods of Peru.

You must see Macchu Picchu and the Nazca Lines. There are so many beautiful places.

you have to buy a souvenir, anything that grabs your attention, something new, there are so many things that you will see.

Your chia pet's stalker
well, although you will be disgusted by the idea you MUST try the cuy or forever regret not (guinea pig). the people are very nice and understanding to our silly american mistakes (language barrier), and always have a smile on their face even when they are all skin and bone with no money to buy food. restaruant food is cheap and ok, although it usually doesn't have much flavor. they eat a lot of starch, and the fruits and vegetables will be different than you're used to. don't drink the water and always wash fruit and vegetables very well with bottled water before eating, i would say don't buy vegetables at all cuz we had bad experiences with them.
and remember: whatever you do even if they say it's fine, DO NOT DRINK THE TAP WATER.

(i accidently answered another question with this answer, woops, thinking it was yours, it was actually not... of course... XD)
