The cheapest place to live in Central America is Nicaragua. It is also relatively safe. With a bit of luck you could make it. Habla espanol?

Bolivia

*cheapest cost of living in the new world (i.e. north or south america) !
*check out Copacabana - its a small touristy town on Lake Titicaca, close to Isla Del Sol (birthplace of the Inca Empire)
*Santa Cruz is also in the country, not such high up elevation and biggest city. You could buy a house there for fraction of cost in North America.
*I hope you speak spanish!

good luck
-Jake
