I am traveling to Costa Rica I understand that the electrical outlets there are the same as ours in the states?

however I have heard mixed things about blowdryers being compatible in Costa Rica. Does anyone know about this? I dont want to waste space packing one if it will blow because of power differences.

Thanks a bunch!

They are the same except for very old buildings. Even the very old public use buildings are the same. In private houses you still can find the old style outlets that use 2 cylindrical prongs instead of the modern flat type with 2 slightly different widths. You can buy adapters for this is almost every hardware store.

The only difference is Costa Rica runs at 110 volts, not the Northamerican 120. It is well within the built-in tolerance of all electrical appliances.
