Definitely Guanacaste, the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen, and I have travelled all of Costa Rica...

Playa Conchal is my favorite, a huge tropical beach made of tiny crushed shells- but if you can get an ATV and have the adventurous spirit to take small dirt roads and trails in the middle of noware you will discover amazing beaches hardly ever visited!
If you want to read more about beaches http://beaches.incostaricaguide.com/
And more about Guanacaste http://guanacaste.incostaricaguide.com/

If you have a difficulty with English, you can click the spanish flag on the top of the page and it will be translated to Spanish!

Have fun in Costa Rica!

I spent three weeks in Costa (2) years ago, and traveled the country by bus...coast to coast.
It depends on what you are looking for, San Jose is like any major city i.e. loud, dirty, dangerous, etc...
I found the Guanacaste to be a complete combination of kick back rural pace with all the conveniences of a small town. Liberia in particular.
Ticos and Ticas rule!

Tabacon is definitly the best place you could go. It has hot thermal waters everywhere. Guanacaste is also a great place. In fifth grade, I went to school there at Country Day School. We lived in some apartments in Flamingo. Brazilito is a very poor place in Guanacaste. Turrialba is not a good place to go because the hotels aren't that good. I really reccomend Tabacon because they have great restaurants and a great hotel. Although its a long drive, I bet it is all worthwhile. My parents and I went there but we didn't spend the night. We came back the same day. Be sure to bring a bathing suit when you go there. Good Luck!!! I hope you choose me as your best answer

PS-I'm in eigth grade now.

if you like history, go to places like san jose and cartago

if you like beaches, go to Jaco or Manuel Antonio

if you like hot and dry, go to guanacaste

augy30
go to st emeralda beach

QuestionMan
Arenal volcano is amazing. Make sure you visit the Tabacon resort whilst you are there - go at night, to sip cocktails whilst bathing in the hot springs.

The caribbean coast is less visited, but really interesting in my opinion. If you want a few days chilling on the beach and partying, Puerto Viejo is great.

If you are into nature, go to Corcovado, on the South Pacific coast. Here you can camp, see whales, and loads of interesting wildlife. You could also climb mount Chirripo in the central valley for great views and pure air.

San Jose in my opinion is not worth much time.

Say pura vida to everyone!

Dominical, on the south pacific between Quepos and Uvita. Amazing!!!
