Hey, so what happened is that the spanish came decimated the indegenous populations and stablished hteir own population.
that being said, there is still today large number of indigenous people specially in bolivia peru and ecuador.

But in reality u should know that latino is not a race, its a culture.

the spanish population in latinamerican also mixed with the indegenous and u get the mestizo which makes up a large number of todays latinos, specially in mexico. some spanish didint mix, tahts hwy there is a lot of white latinamericans. Alos most spanish were from anadalucia, and so their skin was darker (moorish influence) than other spaniards. Then they brought in the african slaves, not everywhere, but still the blacks make ip a big proportion of hte population specially in the caribbean. And finnally came immigration (thats something most north americans ignore) but there were tons of italians, arabs (shakira) germans, some french and english and chinese taht settled during the late XIX and up to the mid XX.

so yea, its a big mix, but people tend to think of the latino as a homogenous group when it really isnt.

hope that helped

See, a couple hundred years ago, the Spanish and Portuguese came to South and Central America, and wiped out most of the native population, using the rest as slaves as they moved in and established colonies.

In South America, slavery did not last long. Once the Spaniards and the Portuguese were ousted, that was about it. Thus the population integrated. Latino is more of a mix of natives, africans and europeans. That is latino now. Thus a couple down there can expect to have children with extremely diverse characteristics.

In North America, the europeans demolished the natives and enslaved the africans. This prolonged a mixture. But today things are improving on a humane level.

dang same thing in north amearica dang lations taking the world over.
