The closest pass between Chile and Argentina to Santiago is "Paso de los Libertadores" which lead to Mendoza. From then on, just follow the signs to Buenos Aires.

Go to www.google.com and download a program called Google earth. Not only can you get the directions you are looking for but you can check for other things, like terrain of where you're headed. Good luck.
