I have family that came down from Los Angeles to Nicaragua in December and they used something called MTOM tours. I don't know where you live but they have offices in Los Angeles (Los Angeles and Van Nuys). They got their tickets for $660, thats the cheapest so far (for December), any other season they are much much cheaper. They specialize in cheap airfare to Nicaragua but also provide cheap airfare to Central and South America. Since El Salvador is closer to L.A. than Nicaragua i'm sure they have cheaper deals from LAX to El Salvador.
